EthosEnergy is recruiting for a Machinist to set up and machine to finished dimensions with tolerances <.0005” with a wide variety of parts, with limited supervision, which includes, but is not limited to precision parts, split cases, spherical parts, and multiple segmented parts.

Job Responsibilities

  • Rough and finish machine a wide variety of rotating equipment components and can, under minimal supervision effectively complete intricate and difficult jobs, requiring separate machining to many co-related dimensions in diameters, faces, slots, and grooves with demand for concentricity, parallelism, squareness, roundness, and surface finish.
  • Perform assigned duties with limited assistance or direct supervision. Consistently meets or exceeds company or industry standards for quality of work and manufacturing times established for this position.
  • With limited assistance and supervision sets up and operates conventional and special-purpose machines and machining centers to manufacture metallic and non-metallic parts applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, handbook formulas, shop mathematics (trigonometry, geometry, algebra), machinability of materials, and layout techniques.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished parts, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Can select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers, using commercially available tooling and products whenever possible.
  • Willingly shares information and knowledge with superiors, peers and other team members.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine readouts.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and notifies appropriate individuals as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Can operate, set up and machine with portable machining equipment in shop and onsite with minimal guidance. (Boring bars, Knee mills, Master mills, Flange facers, Rotor Turning devices and Portable Precision Grinding equipment)
  • Perform assigned duties with limited assistance and minor supervision. Consistently meet or exceed company or industry standards for quality of work and manufacturing times established for this position.
  • Perform follow-up operations, such as deburring, polishing, grinding, and threading.
  • Perform and document in-process QA inspections. (Follow Route Tag instructions)
  • Perform regular maintenance. (monitor oil reservoir, coolant levels and fill as needed)
  • Confers with co-workers to resolve machining problems or to develop process improvements.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
  • Keeps workstation clean and organized.
  • Follows all established safety procedures and practices.
  • Occasional travel is required to the customer site or other EthosEnergy facilities.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Knowledge of HS&E policy and able to interpret HS&E warnings.
  • Skilled in computer software (MS Office, Word, Excel and internet navigation).
  • Knowledge of machine shop equipment (CNC machines, lathes, mills EDM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of machine shop theory, shop mathematics and layout techniques.
  • Oral and Written Communication (English).
  • Skilled in the use of dimensional measuring equipment.
  • Setting up, programming and operating machine shop equipment (CNC machines, lathes, mills, EDM, etc.)
  • Able to machine and measure to close tolerances (.0002”) as required.
  • Capable of reading complex blueprint specifications, charts, and follow work orders and engineering instructions as necessary.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
  • Ability to read and write the English language per FAA regulations.
  • Confident working in a team environment.
  • Ability to problem solve repair/overhaul problems.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize to meet company deadlines.
  • Focused on results, even when dealing with diverse, complex tasks for different jobs and projects.


  • Completion of trade school.
  • Minimum of 3 years of manual machining experience (preferred).

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
