The primary purpose of the position is to provide engineering expertise with a focus on mechanical processes and practices related to cogeneration and combined cycle assets. The current execution strategy for the company places a large emphasis on project review and management that requires varying levels of leadership and oversight experience. Working with the engineering team, the incumbent will be responsible for engineering and project management not limited to boiler inspections and repairs, process pump performance testing, valve inspection and testing, cathodic protection, drawing management, drawing updated, Management of change process to name a few. The incumbent will be responsible for understanding the facility predictive maintenance programs, operating processes as well as managing project cost, schedule, and quality assurance related to his/her assigned duties. He/She will also be responsible for narratives for project progress reports as well as gathering and analysing cost data. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining open communication lines between all the project team members and is required to be responsive to customer preferences and out-of-scope requests. The incumbent must be fully cognizant of contract requirements including permits limitations and understand the required engineering deliverables and their assigned dates. As Engineering is performed by 3rd party engineering firms, the incumbent maintains responsibility for the quality and delivery issues of assigned deliverables.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible as system matter expert to oversee the mechanical predictive maintenance programs
  • Responsible for boiler, HRSG, pump, valve, and system piping from an engineering and project management position
  • Responsible for the mechanical design review of power plant related processes
  • Read, understand process flow diagrams, electrical one-line drawings and general arrangement drawings
  • Support the site drawing and electronic files system including support of drawing updates and redlines through use of AutoCAD and/or other electronic software programs.
  • Support the development of various risk analyses and mitigation plans, cash flows, schedule and costing information
  • Assist with technical and commercial support during proposal preparations
  • Monitor budgets and trends and provide timely reports and feedback
  • Prepare engineering execution plans as required
  • Participate in Company – Client meetings as required
  • Writing and reviewing mechanical specifications and vendor documentation
  • Perform mechanical Systems Studies
  • Prepare Scope of Works (SOW) documents
  • Ensure effective engineering and client communications
  • Special projects as assigned

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Experienced in and can demonstrate an understanding and awareness of mechanical engineering requirements related to power generation facilities.
  • Experienced in and can demonstrate an understanding of boilers, pumps, and piping systems and their related preventative and predictive maintenance requirements.
  • Professional Engineer License is Preferred
  • Set challenging objectives and achieve them in terms of time, targets, quality, budget provisions, materials, etc.

  • Maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers
  • Communicate well at all levels of the organization
  • Analyze business data, identify potential problems, spot inconsistencies, and take corrective actions

  • Able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously

Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical in a utility or related industry or sufficient experience to fulfil the responsibilities of the position
  • Must have Field experience working with operations, maintenance, and contractor support personnel

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to enter confined spaces, climb ladders and several flights of stairs
