The successful candidate will be responsible for providing NERC compliance leadership for the O&M business in the areas of NERC 693 Reliability Standards and 706 (Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP)) Standards. A comprehensive understanding of the regional variations of NERC compliance interpretations across the six regions, demonstrated success in managing NERC programs, strong relationships within NERC and the regional entities, a strong track record of effectively leading and managing people, and experience in a customer interfacing environment is required for this position. Previous experience working for NERC or a regional entity is highly desirable. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President – Operations West Hemisphere, will oversee the NERC department, and work closely with the O&M Region Vice Presidents of Operations, Regional Operations Directors, Facility Managers and Owners Representatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Includes the following, however, other duties may be assigned as needed;
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the NERC Department.
  • Provide policy and procedure consultation, direction, and Interpretation for various reliability standards, requirements, and guidelines.
  • Support the implementation of reliability standards and compliance program measures and internal controls.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the NERC team in supporting the Regional VP Operations, Regional Operations Directors and Facility Managers regarding NERC compliance.
  • Identify any NERC risks across the O&M portfolio and effectively communicate that risk with O&M customers and EthosEnergy management.
  • Attend periodic phone calls and meetings as requested by Regional VP Operations, Regional Operations Directors, Facility Managers, and Facility Owners.
  • Provide monthly reporting on the status of NERC compliance across the EthosEnergy portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain relationships at an appropriate level within NERC and the regional entities.
  • Lead the development of an ERCOT Protocol compliance system should this become necessary. This would include training facility management and conducting periodic reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure best practices are incorporated into the NERC policy guideline and Internal Compliance Program (ICP) as required.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated experience developing administrative 693 Policies and Procedures that have been audited by a NERC Regional Entity.
  • They will have generator-specific experience (GO/GOP), experience with 706 (CIP) Standards, and experience managing people.
  • Experience working at NERC or a regional entity is highly desired.


  • Ten (10) plus years NERC compliance experience, a demonstrated track record of successful performance as a NERC manager implementing and maintaining an effective compliance program, experience managing people, and experience in a customer service environment.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
