We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical project Engineer based in Loveland, CO to be responsible for the mechanical design of custom component-based solutions on a project basis. These solutions include turbomachinery controls retrofits in the U.S. and internationally as required. Development of the mechanical design requires working directly with the engineering technical lead to define and discuss specific requirements and strategy for the design, and then developing the material list, physical layout, and schematics to support this product. This position requires working closely with the entire project team, as well as external vendors, purchasing, and fabricators.

Job Responsibilities

Work with various modelling software within Autodesk suite to generate detailed 3-D drawings and 2-D drawings.
Review designs of custom manufactured parts and assemblies.
Generate and maintain a bill of material for each assembly.
Manage design documentation revision control to track project progress and phases.
Participate in design reviews and discussions with customers regarding site-specific requirements.
Support of production issues (assembly, testing, part substitutions, customer changes, etc.).
Research of suitable vendors for purchased material.
In addition to focus on design and engineering of custom components supporting the mechanical retrofit, the Mechanical Project Engineer will assist with creating assembly detail drawings that make up a control system

Required Skills / Knowledge

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office applications.
Limited amount of travel.
Highly Proficient with AutoCAD and Inventor Series environments. Desired:
Spanish or other language skills.
Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Experience

1-3 years’ experience in design or equivalent industrial experience.
Prior expertise with industrial requirements and standards (ASME, ANSI, GD&T, SAE, etc.).
Prior expertise with hydraulic systems and P&ID’s. Desired:
Previous experience working with turbine control systems.
Experience in Manufacturing (machining and assembly).
Drafting experience for drawing layout purposes.
Mechanical assembly/test experience (tool knowledge).

Education Requirements

Formal degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (or equivalent industrial experience).

Physical Requirements

General office related activities.
Field work requiring moderate lifting, squatting, hand tool usage, & stairs in an industrial environment.
