We are looking to recruit a QA Manager in the Hartford area, CT / New England. The primary responsible for ensuring that the quality of the product meets the clients or consumers specifications and demands; maintaining compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies for repair and overhaul services rendered; directing and advising all personnel involved in the repair and shipment of product are suitably qualified and experienced in the appropriate processes; and carrying out with the authority to carry out all assigned tasks. Designated as the ISO 9000 Management Representative responsible for implementation and maintenance of the ISO 9000 Quality Management System. Manage the quality assurance audit program and records areas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all activities in the quality assurance areas.
  • Oversee the calibration and underhook programs.
  • Plan, organize and assign work to Quality Engineer assigned to the Spare Parts Manufacturing operations, and Quality Assurance Department personnel.
  • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of Continual Improvement within the Quality Assurance department.
  • Verify that customer work instructions are carried out.
  • Responsible for Training & Certifying Internal Quality Auditors.
  • Ensure that QA personnel are complying with the established safety practices and procedures.
  • Evaluate employee performance and determine training requirements.
  • Manage the Training Program and maintain training records.
  • Solve departmental problems.
  • Oversee the review of assembly and inspection records for completeness and audit errors.
  • Maintain current Quality Manual, Quality Assurance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Ensure customer complaints are documented and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Review Corrective Actions to ensure root cause is identified and effective corrective/preventive actions are implemented.
  • Oversee the Supplier Quality Management Process.
  • Ensure that labor hours are properly documented for the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area and follow all safety procedures and rules and properly wear all safety protective equipment as required.
  • Conduct oneself in a businesslike manner and in the spirit of teamwork.
  • Read and interpret complex drawings and blue prints.
  • Chair the ISO 9001 Management Review and follow up meetings. Ensure action items from Management Reviews are completed.
  • Coordinate with 3rd Party Registrar for ISO 9001 registration and surveillance audits.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by management.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Knowledge of company’s policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the requirements of JAR145 & FAR145
  • Knowledge in an aviation component or accessories environment
  • Strong knowledge of ISO9001/2000; AS9110 Quality Systems
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical component overhaul or manufacture, in a highly regulated environment
  • Knowledge of internal and third party auditing
  • Knowledge of computer software (MS Office / spreadsheets / internet websites / PowerPoint / Outlook / MS Project & Access)
  • Skilled in operating computers and office equipment (fax machines, copiers, phone systems)
  • Skilled in basic data entry
  • Skilled in management and supervising
  • Skilled in analyzing and solving problems
  • Skilled in paying attention to detail
  • Skilled in oral and written communication (English)
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • Ability to lead and conduct audits

  • 10-15 years related experience

Education Requirements

  • BS Degree (or equivalent) in Quality Management or equivalent plus additional broad specialized training in an aviation or technical school, military training and 10-15 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Airframe & Powerplant License preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit/stand for up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to look at computer monitor for up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to type for long periods of time
