Maintenance Manager

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day maintenance activities and ensure that the facility is operated in a safe, reliable, and economic manner consistent with site O&M Agreement, contracts, permits, rules and regulations, and written instructions from the Facility Owner.
• Promote a safe working environment and ensure that all personnel and contractors follow plant and company safety procedures and policies. Assign a Safety Liaison and oversee the safety activities to ensure compliance with all OSHA required training and activities.
• Accountability for major maintenance outage planning, this includes, work scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, bid specification development for turbine maintenance and repairs, contractor selection and evaluation, and spare parts assessment and procurement.
• Manage the warehouse and maintain sufficient tools, spare parts, and consumables to meet the plant owner’s business requirements.
• Work with service providers, suppliers, and contractors to develop programs and relationships to reduce costs and better meet the plant owner’s business requirements.
• Develop and maintain a Warranty Management Program.
• Work with the Plant Admin to administer the CMMS.
• Ensure that equipment maintenance records are updated regularly in the CMMS and maintained for the life of the equipment.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.
• Develop a training program for the maintenance personnel and encourage the staff to cross train and add skills to create a more flexible and productive plant environment.
• Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the team to ensure appropriate skill sets are maintained and personnel are qualified for the activities with which they are being asked to perform.
• Delegate projects and tasks to the operations & maintenance personnel to ensure an acceptable backlog of work-orders, work is properly distributed, and all personnel are being exposed to the various functions in the plant thus promoting the experience level of the staff.
• Support the Facility Manager in the completion of all facility reporting requirements including environmental, safety, budgeting, and plant performance.
• Support the monitoring and optimization projects for improving plant performance.
• Encourage the plant staff to incorporate improvements internally to reduce contract costs.

Required Skills / Knowledge

• A thorough demonstrated understanding of plant maintenance and reliability methods and best practices, including a working knowledge of operations & maintenance functions.
• Experience within a thermal power station, especially with General Electric Combustion Turbines considered an asset,
• Substantial knowledge and understanding of the engineering design and engineering practices on a modern Power Station.
• Strong leadership and skills and the ability to manage and motivate subordinates.
• Experience with managing external contractors to maintain productivity.
• Understand budgets, bid proposals, contract evaluation, basic accounting principles, plant economics and the impacts of maintenance activities on costs and performance.
• Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
• Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, and technical manuals.
• Ability to solve practical problems, clearly communicate tasks and needs, and training of other personnel. Analyses and interprets data to make sound professional judgments and recommendations.
• Substantial knowledge of engineering practices, functions and processes involved in maintenance of relevant Power Stations.
• Knowledge of typical legislation associated with power station maintenance.
• Knowledge of risk management techniques.

Experience

• Experience in maintenance of large industrial equipment, preferably combined cycle power plants.
• Demonstrated knowledge of power plant operations, plant management, maintenance experience and technical ability is preferred.

Education Requirements

• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering BS degree or commensurate experience is an asset as well as a demonstrated track record of successful goal achievement.
• Minimum of eight year's relevant experience, with a minimum of four years in a supervisory or management position or a position in which there was oversight and delegation of tasks associated with completion of projects.
