Primarily responsible for the day-to-day engineering support of respective shop departments; developing, producing, testing and maintaining repair specifications/procedures for gas turbine engine components; establishing of the total process including customer/prime/supplier interfacing, developing the required processes, tooling, fixtures, gauging operation sheets and introduction of the process into the shop; dispositioning of internal non-conforming material to meet the requirements of customer approved technical with the authority to carry out all assigned tasks.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interface with various customers, with EE A&C Customer Support, Marketing and Shop personnel to establish development needs and priorities
  • Perform economic analyses to assure viability of the repairs
  • Perform training to operators/technicians on new process
  • Prepare technical plans to schedule and track development programs
  • Develop and/or adapt all processes required to repair the components in question
  • Participate in and direct the repair of prototype and qualification hardware
  • Provide engineering support to resolve production, quality and technical problems
  • Identify and support the development of new processes and process improvement
  • Enhance product performance through design, development, creation and testing
  • Ensure products meet all regulatory guidelines through process and testing
  • Confirm reliability and quality of mechanical components
  • Prepare and issue comprehensive repair processes (routers and operation sheets) and the required tooling/fixtures/gauging necessary to transition the repair to the shop
  • Maintain long-term cognizance of the processes and provide improvements on a continuing basis
  • Must be mentally coherent and free from the influence of drugs (either illegal or legally prescribed drugs that may cause impairment) while performing in the capacity of “safety-sensitive” duties/operations per FAA regulations

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Accepts accountability and ownership. Strong ability and willingness to improve one’s skill set. Capability of delivering results in a challenging environment. Strong organizational and communication skills. Strong MS Office and Solidworks/NX skills and an ability to learn computer software swiftly. Experience with Additive Manufacturing and related software. Able to accomplish tasks and deliver results through hands on and practical activities. Effective written and verbal communication skills at all levels within an organization. Ability to relate to internal and external customers promoting and delivering on what they view as CTQ. Acceptance that it may sometimes be required to work hours beyond the standard working day in order to ensure CTQ’s are achieved for both internal and external customers. Acceptance that it may be required sporadically to travel both internally within the USA and internationally.

Education Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, e.g. Mechanical Engineering. Working towards Professional Engineering or Project Management accreditation is a plus. Lean Six Sigma qualifications are a plus.

  • Must be able to look at computer monitor for up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to type for long periods of time
