The HSSE Specialist provides support to the WH operations in critical topics such as customer’s HSSE prequalification processes, EthosEnergy third party vetting, and Environmental Framework actions. This position also leads the support in the Learning Management System focused to HSSE topics. It tracks, monitors and document safety performance data, HSSE policies and procedures, BU/SBU monthly injuries and man-hours and produces quarterly reports.

Job Responsibilities

  • Customer Prequalification and 3rd Party Vetting Account Management (AVETTA, ISNNetworld, Cognibox, Complyworks, Vero)
  • Lead all efforts to obtain, upload and maintain the HSSE information into all vetting systems as required - EMR data - Certificate of insurance - Monthly KPIs (TRIR, Man hours, etc.) - Submit annual OSHA logs - Update Environmental programs as required - Update vendor survey questions - Connect with new vendors as contracts are signed
  • Work with Canadian Workers Comp Boards (WCB) - Ensure account status remains active yearly - Update WCB with worker classifications based on workload in Canada
  • Ethos Learning Management System Training, Guidance, and implementation support
  • Act as a liaison between company employees and contracted Learning Management System (MLS); opening and tracking tickets until closure and having the ability to resolve multifaceted issues that may require research and decision making skills.
  • Assists leadership in planning company training learning paths that will meet training objectives; identifies any gaps (resource, training, equipment, etc.) and works with the management team to ensure they are resolved prior to execution of training.
  • Answer inbound employee calls on a daily basis and perform administrative duties on items such as account and status inquiries, LMS system administration coaching/training and make outbound return calls or TEAMS meetings as needed.
  • Maintains a comprehensive repository of relevant instructions on how to manage the LMS in the company’s SharePoint and ensures training related information is current.
  • Executes other related training management activities as required, such as but not limited to, finding third party training for site/product line specific requirements.
  • Environmental framework support activities
  • Coordinate Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) data gathering and review
  • Environmental Incident log tracking.
  • Assist with compliance system management data population
  • Transition and Mobilization environmental program implementation support
  • Assist with environmental audit document review and organization
  • Client permit and allowance management report (billable)
  • Routine environmental permit compliance reporting (billable)
  • Monitors and document safety performance data, HSSE policies and procedures
  • Support generation of monthly HSSE reports to Senior Management
  • Support Corporate HSSE programs and initiatives
  • Serve as administrator and trainer of the CAIRS system and owner of the HSSE iShare site.
  • Manage all HSSE files and records.
  • Track sites’ and BUs’ monthly and quarterly HSSE submittals in line with expectations.
  • Support completion and distribution of HSSE policies and procedures.
  • Review invoices, monitor POs, and compile work products for external environmental consulting projects.
  • Maintaining controlled copies of the HSE management systems and procedures.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Ability to deal with complex safety situations is required.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Have good interpersonal and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Have demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Have ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Have established project management skills


  • At least three years of safety or a related field experience required.
  • Experience responding to safety incidents required.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems preferred

Education Requirements

  • Degree in Safety or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 10/OSHA 30 or other safety certificates preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Position requires periods of intense physical exertion, including walking, climbing, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift and move material up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to climb and perform a function up to a 12-ft ladder.
  • The position requires infrequent travel
