We are currently recruiting for a Controls Engineer to support our Gas Turbines business in Germany.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong Ethos energy safety culture ensuring all site activities and personnel follow the safety standards of Ethos Energy.
  • Worldwide travel to customer sites to carry out various field assignments on Gas Turbine controls and instrumentation.
  • Willingness to accommodate the needs of the business by working overtime and weekends as required.
  • Manage control and instrumentation installation, maintenance and commissioning of GE Heavy Duty Gas Turbines (Fr3, Fr5, Fr6 & Fr9).
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Produce inspection reports effectively and accurately
  • Provide technical advice to sub-contractors and customers on OEM equipment
  • Familiar with electrical Motor Control Centres (MCCs)
  • If required able to disassemble, reassemble, test, calibrate and maintain instruments or devices such as pressure, temperature, flow, level & Gas Valves.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Strong technical skills in reading and understanding electrical and mechanical documents & drawings.
  • Ability to travel sometimes at short notice
  • Able to read and understand ladder logic, function block diagrams and sequential flow chart style of programming for fault finding.
  • Basic understanding of networking and good level of programming understanding
  • English and German language skills; read, write and understand are mandatory (min. B2 level).
  • Strong communication skills - oral and written both internal and external to customers.
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking skills for effective decision-making
  • Excellent customer interaction and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work as part of a team or independently
  • Strong fault finding skills and knowledge to resolve issues when they arrive


  • Field service experience of Gas Turbines
  • Experience with speedtronic Mark V, Mark VI or Mark VIe preferable. Other control systems an advantage such as Siemens Simatic manager or T3000
  • Ability to strategically plan and execute tactical everyday activities

Education Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to travel worldwide (travel activity approx.60 - 70%).
  • Class B driving licence. (m/f/d)
