Independently carry out repair and maintenance activity on various API equipment in the workshop and customer site.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and care for all equipment, tooling and machines used.
  • Work independently and assist other technicians in the workshop or at customer sites in the strip down, clean, inspect, repair and assemble various API, rotating and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Strip down and rebuild all types of API equipment.
  • Conduct pressure test on equipment.
  • Record repair work, inventories parts and inform Supervisor of new parts requirement.
  • Ensure that all work has been completed, inspected and signed off before passing on to the next operation.
  • Ensure that the workshop remains a clean, safe working environment.
  • Perform other related field maintenance or shop duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Knowledge of API 6A, 16A & 16C.
  • Extensive knowledge of valve and BOP repair techniques
  • Use and operation of tools required in valve repair.
  • Decision making ability to select appropriate repair technique for any valve.
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to use precision measuring and torquing devices, valve packing procedures and methods, various threads, flanges, and equipment working pressures; identify types/sizes of threads and flanges.
  • Understanding of dimensional check and precision measuring equipment.
  • Sound understanding of the hydrostatic and pneumatic testing requirements and procedures.
  • Sound mechanical understanding with all or some of the following: Control/Shut-off/On-off Valves, PSV Repair, Lapping, Calibration and Testing.
  • Good knowledge of all associated codes and regulations dealing with valve repairs.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 year experience in similar job, demonstrating advance skills in valve repair.

Education Requirements

  • ITI in Mechanical Fitters + NCVT.
  • Diploma is mechanical discipline preferred, although not essential.
  • Good Communication skills in English language, both written and verbal.
  • Basic mathematical knowledge..

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and walking for long periods of time during workday
  • Sufficient physical ability to work in a Mechanical workshop setting and operate workshop equipment.
