We are currently recruiting for a Manual Machinist to join our A&D team in Dyce, Aberdeen.
The purpose of the position is to perform the full range of Machinist duties and services for the EthosEnergy Aerospace & Defense division. This includes performing various traditional machining operations on multiple Gas Turbine component parts.

Job Responsibilities

  • Using various types of machines such as Lathes, Vertical Milling Machines and Electro Discharge Machines (EDM) as required.
  • Machining of various component parts ensuring that route cards are followed and all necessary details recorded in line with quality guidelines.
  • Carry out dimensional and visual inspection in accordance with internal documents.
  • Complete inspection sheets as and when required.
  • Ensure layer 1 audit completed for all machinery.
  • Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated before use.
  • Ensure that all components are handled and transported in a safe manner.
  • Perform regular maintenance. (monitor oil and coolant levels and fill as needed).
  • Support Stores person to ensure all replacement parts are identified.
  • Assist with other parts of the business as and when required.
  • Keep workstation clean and organised.
  • Operate within QHS&E guidelines.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience in the use of machine shop equipment such as lathes and vertical milling machines.
  • Knowledge of machine shop theory, shop mathematics and layout techniques.
  • Skilled in the use of dimensional measuring equipment.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication (English)
  • Ability to machine and measure to close tolerances (.0005”) as required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and organise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read complex drawing specifications, charts and follow work orders and engineering instructions as necessary.
  • Ability to train others as required.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule.
  • Ability to learn tasks required to perform the job.
  • Attentive to detail and desire to produce a quality product.
  • Strong communication skills essential.
  • Proactive attitude and proven ability of working within a team environment.
  • Good standard of computer literacy including MS Office skills desirable; however, training will be given.
  • Numerical, Literacy and administration skills
  • Flexible, self- motivated and high levels of initiative- ability to handle multiple tasks

Experience

  • Mechanical engineering experience essential, preferably from a Gas Turbine background or similar environment.

Education Requirements

  • Qualified to SVQ level 3 in mechanical engineering desirable.
  • Manual Machining experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Position will be subject to passing medical and eye test.
