Ironwood Generating Station is a 720MW (net), 2x1 Siemens Energy 501G Combined Cycle facility in Lebanon County, PA. This facility is seeking a full-time Plant Technician / OMT.

The Plant Technician is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the power facility while assigned on shift or while assigned to the maintenance team. This position will strictly adhere to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees, contractors, and public safety.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment. Equipment includes, but not limited to gas turbine, steam turbine, generators, heat recovery steam generators, air compressors, water treatment equipment, demineralizers, motors, pumps, fire suppression systems, and all other balance of plant auxiliary equipment.

Qualified candidates must be dependable, self-motivated and capable of working under limited supervision. US citizenship is a requirement of this role. A formal college degree is not needed, but 3-5 years of Power Plant experience and/or operation of various mobile and industrial equipment is required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Complete all assigned work and training safely and efficiently within compliance of Ironwood, EthosEnergy and state policies and procedures (i.e utilizing SMS/OSHA/MSHA/LOTO/PFW)
  • Perform facility start-up and shutdown in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure environmental compliance (Air and Water)
  • Analyze and report operating irregularities, correcting them whenever possible
  • Maintain facility availability and coordinate operations and maintenance activities
  • Develop and implement operating policies and procedures
  • Assist with the direction, training and development of plant technicians and other personnel
  • Write routine reports, solve practical problems, and clearly communicate tasks and needs
  • Write and perform high voltage switching orders in accordance with utility practices
  • Prepare permits for work as needed
  • Enforce all safe work practices including cleanliness of facility
  • Perform contractor safety indoctrinations and update all safety logs
  • Utilize a CMMS to update work orders and PM’s
  • Interface with contractors and vendors
  • Other duties assigned

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Strong familiarity with all facets of power plant operations
  • Ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations
  • Excellent communication skills- including 3-Way communications and Phonetic alphabet
  • Mechanical trouble shooting skills & abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, logic drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's
  • Adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with mechanical equipment
  • Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge
  • Proficient at Water Chemistry.

Experience

  • 3-5 years power plant operations experience or equivalent.
  • Experience operating various types of mobile equipment ie: high lift, fork lift
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment ie: hydraulic presses, industrial mill equipment, alignment tools

Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college to technical school preferred.
  • Must successfully pass the EEI (Edison Electric Institute) Combo POSS B exam
  • Ability to obtain and maintain switching and permit authority

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work overtime as needed to support plant operations and maintenance.
  • Able to work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule including week-ends, holidays & call outs.
  • Ability to cross train in all areas of the plant and attend off site training as assigned by Operations Manager.
  • Ability to complete all assigned work in a safe and efficient manner in all types of adverse weather conditions, including but not limited to, extreme heat.
  • Capable of performing moderate outdoor manual labor including but not limited to climbing stairs and lifting up to 70lbs.
  • Able to climb ladders of various sizes and work at elevated heights.
