The individual is responsible for development and implementation of major/ advanced repairs to flight derivative industrial gas generator and power turbine rotating and stationary components.

Salary Compensation range is 95k-110k as commiserated with education and experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • The position includes, but is not limited to, the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other relevant duties will be assigned on an as-needed basis.
  • Develop salvage repairs for gas generators and power turbine components.
  • Participate in critical design reviews as they relate to tooling and repair development.
  • Analyze degradation modes and develop durable, cost-effective repair schemes to prevent recurrence.
  • Integrate detailed instructions as required for inspection, repair and assembly of gas turbine engines and power turbines.
  • Familiarity with gas generator operation and performance characteristics.
  • Provide technical/process instructions to personnel as required.
  • Create drawings to detail repair schemes.
  • Develop new and/or improved tooling for engine and power turbine shop maintenance.
  • Train personnel in the proper use of manufacturer’s technical data.
  • Assist in the response to corrective action requests from customers and/or regulatory system audits.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to a safe work environment and comply with WGPW established safety practices and procedures.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by management.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Proficiency with 3-D modeling software and the Microsoft Office environment.
  • Hands-on experience in Gas Turbine component repair and process development including fusion welding, brazing, coatings, heat treatment, thermal spray, plating, surface treatments and the inherent metallurgical changes, relationships and implications associated with these processes.
  • Ability to read, interpret, document, and use manufacturer’s technical manuals, service Bulletins, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, assembly drawings, inspection sheets and WGP&W assembly records.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering from a four-year ABET accredited college with a minimum of 10 years related industry experience. MATHMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply the concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and college-level math as they relate to dimensional restoration of gas turbine components, fits and clearances, running positions, etc.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in an office and workshop environment and may travel to local suppliers to review repair progress or discuss technical matters relative to repair implementation.
