GTE is seeking a highly motivated electrical engineering student to help develop wiring diagrams, control panel layout drawings, BOMs, and 2D models using AutoCAD and our internal ERP software platform.

The candidate will be part of a team reviewing system specifications, writing and capturing product functional requirements, selecting components, and generating the technical materials necessary to assemble the final product and submit customer deliverables.

The candidate would also be expected to lead special facility-wide projects, including inventory and CAD library management projects, general office tasks i.e., copying and scanning documents, generating customer documentation, and validating the accuracy of customer drawings to coordinate build-to-print shop packages.

Job Responsibilities

  • Generate datasheets, bills of materials, and other documentation for procurement of project materials.
  • Review designs, drawings, BOMs, and work packages to ensure all customer requirements are met.
  • Work with Project Management, Purchasing, Quality, Production, and Field Service teams to execute the full project scope.
  • Detailed component specification, sourcing, and procurement.
  • Process and Procedure generation, training, and adherence.
  • Develop electrical designs utilizing latest 2D CAD/PLM/PDM software tools (AutoCAD and Siemens Energy NX/Teamcenter or Solidworks).
  • Create and author formal component, material, process, and general specifications in support of the part manufacturing process.
  • Undertake personal research and investigate applicable patents so as to determine project scope.
  • Ensure safety, reliability and efficiency consideration, global trends and latest norms, standards and innovations are incorporated in the design practice.
  • Work closely with suppliers to specify components and obtain datasheets.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • All skills are a plus and are not expected
  • Knowledge of industrial-grade electrical components, including switchgear, controlgear, motor controllers, drives, power supplies, programmable controllers, push buttons, relays, timers
  • Experience with generating wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, Bills of Materials, SAMA logic diagrams, electrical installation diagrams, and testing procedures based on customer specifications, P&IDs, and General Arrangement drawings
  • Experience with 600V and below power and control circuit design, including sizing circuit protection and wiring and developing control logic
  • Experience with PLC ladder logic and HMI design, particularly with Allen Bradley, Siemens Energy, and GE components
  • Knowledge of UL and NEC standards generally, but specifically UL508A, NFPA70, and FM standards related to industrial control panel design, electrical installations, fire systems, communications, heat tracing, and hazardous environments
  • Knowledge of industrial-grade process components, including valves, transmitters, switches, pumps, motors, and heaters is a plus
  • Knowledge of IEC and ATEX standards
  • PE license

Experience

  • 0-2 years of prior relevant experience – Design of skidded equipment is a plus
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with Siemens EnergyNX is a plus

Education Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering student at an accredited college

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional working in and around large skid/frame-based structures and/or enclosure-type housings to evaluate job progress, offer instruction/guidance, make measurements, and/or troubleshoot issues in the course of supporting GTE’s manufacturing process.
