The Operating Maintenance Technician (OMT) is a multi-craft position requiring the technician to perform all functions related to simple-cycle power plant operations and maintenance. A qualified candidate will possess journeyman level skills in I&E or mechanical maintenance. Being a multi-craft position requires that the technician to be willing perform facility maintenance in all areas including the installation of small pumps and motors, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation, CEMS, and electrical systems within the Simple Cycle facility. This equipment includes, but is not limited to the Combustion Turbine Generators, and auxiliary equipment. The La Porte Power OMT will strictly adhere to all Ethos Energy safety and environmental policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs all functions related to plant operations including performing daily rounds, PMs, lockout tag out, and inspections. Must complete outside operator qualifications in one year and progress into CRO qualifications.
  • Opens and closes circuit breakers as required for proper system operation and electrical isolation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair of all types facility equipment.
  • Proper use of all electrical test equipment and other similar tools.
  • Performs mechanical maintenance of equipment as required.
  • Performs maintenance on electrical systems. (consistent with Ethos Energy electrical safety practices)
  • Reads meters, gauges, and DCS to monitor and record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels.
  • Maintains drawings and prints as required.
  • Communicates plant issues and concerns to the O&M Manager and assigned job progress.
  • Uses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair site equipment and to ensure that it is maintained and operated within manufacturer specifications.
  • Utilizes Maximo CMMS to report and update all corrective & preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of all areas of the plant.
  • Performs contractor oversite and ensures safe work practices are adhered to.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Familiarization with 40CFR Part 75 and Part 60 environmental regulations.
  • Will be required to operate fork trucks, man lifts, and other similar equipment as required.
  • Reads, understands, and complies with all regulatory and facility safety procedures

Experience

  • DCS experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in and industrial environment and the ability to demonstrate a journeyman level knowledge in a maintenance craft.
  • Experience with Maximo corrective maintenance management system.
  • Experience with Cisco CEMS and ESC Stackvision DAHS systems preferred.
  • Experience with low, medium and high voltage switchgear and transformers is preferred.

Education Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Apprenticeship or technical trade school a plus

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers dexterously to operate tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate orally. Sitting for extended periods may be required.
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
  • Work overtime, call-outs, and irregular hours as needed to support reliable operation of the facility.
