We are currently recruiting for an Equipment Operator to be based in Baton Rouge, LA. This position is the responsible auxiliary operator on shift. Helps troubleshoot plant equipment issues. Will operate plant auxiliary equipment at the discretion of the control room.

Job Responsibilities

  • Observes operating conditions of all site equipment as reflected by instruments, gauges, controls and visual observations.
  • Makes adjustment as necessary to make certain equipment is operating properly and places equipment in service and removes equipment from service as required or as directed.
  • Maintains all site equipment as directed.
  • Takes periodic readings reflecting performance of site equipment, records data in appropriate logs or log books, runs required tests, interprets results and makes necessary corrections.
  • Monitors and maintains cycle water chemistry.
  • Maintains all plan facilities and work areas of a clean and professional manner.
  • Performs such other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
  • Special projects as assigned

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
  • Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, written records. Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals, and P&ID's.
  • Will write routine reports, solve practical problems, and clearly communicate tasks and needs and training of other personnel.
  • Proficient at Water Chemistry.

Experience

  • 2-3 years working in Operations at a Power Plant or commiserate educational experience.

Education Requirements

  • Associates degree- Process Technology or similar field of study

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to do walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 pounds). Ability to work in high heat and humidity environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to ascend and descend to and from heights in excess of 100 feet.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform repetitive motion activities.
