EthosEnergy (“Ethos”) operates and maintains (“O&M”) multiple power generation facilities in the US and Canada. Ethos provides regulatory support services as part of this business, including the provision of a North American Electric Reliability Corporation (“NERC”) compliance program. Ethos is seeking a NERC Compliance Manager to support its NERC compliance function.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to administer and manage the EthosEnergy NERC compliance programs for three combined cycle power plant facilities in the Sacramento CA area. The Compliance Manager will execute the duties of the position in concert with facility staff and other corporate NERC resources including the NERC Director. The Compliance Manager position will also coordinate with corporate Ethos NERC staff on program development and improvement for the Reliability Standards and desired skills and knowledge for the position are described below.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the EthosEnergy NERC Reliability Standard’s at Sacramento facilities
  • Support O&M staff on-site in the execution of NERC related activities and compliance documentation.
  • Review executed internal compliance controls to identify and assess potential compliance issues.
  • Conduct NERC compliance reviews and internal audits to assess the compliance status of assigned facilities and the quality of NERC compliance procedures, evidence and internal controls.
  • Support the development of NERC related training and conduct training at assigned facilities.
  • Support O&M staff remotely and on-site in relation to external compliance and enforcement activities (e.g. NERC audits).
  • Interact with SMUD NERC staff
  • Support changes to the EthosEnergy SMUD Facility NERC program as necessary (e.g. revisions to compliance procedures in response to internal best practice improvements and/or new or revised NERC reliability standards or other NERC program changes).
  • Support the identification and management of potential NERC compliance issues and other NERC related issues at the SMUD O&M facilities.
  • Perform other NERC related activities as necessary and/or assigned by the Facility Managers
  • Coordinate future changes to the NERC Reliability Standards

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Familiarity with PRC – 005-6 (system protection – ie. relays, Current Transformers, Potential Transformers & battery testing)
  • The ability to work independently and in group contexts.
  • The ability to work with technical personnel and topics.
  • Experience in the drafting and preparation of regulatory and/or policy documents.
  • Experience with US NERC Reliability Standards

Experience

  • 5-10 years NERC and / or other electric industry regulatory and policy experience is strongly preferred.

Education Requirements

  • Engineering bachelor’s degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must live within a 90 min radius of Sacramento, CA
  • Travel between sites required, approx. 30 miles. #LI-HB1
