The primary purpose of the role is to enhance internal customer/employee experience with people in the US & Canada through administration of the benefit program including health & welfare benefits (e.g., medical , dental, vision, life and disability insurance, etc.) and retirement benefits (e.g., defined contribution plans, profit-sharing plans, defined benefit pension programs, etc.). Role is responsible for benefits program design and management, benefits coverage evaluation, benchmarking, and cost analysis, communication (e.g., guidance on benefit program features, plans, and options to employees and management), vendor management (e.g., insurance and pension brokers, consultants for program design advice, etc.), and ensuring compliance with insurance, tax, and other regulations and filing requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead for US and Canada Benefits Administration · Manages the benefit program administration processes · Interfaces effectively with multiple vendors on a daily basis to ensure high level of service and quality to employees and the organization, to ensure appropriate program compliance and to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of benefit programs on an ongoing basis
  • Manage the successful delivery of open enrollment activities.
  • Work on special projects as required, including but not limited to acquisitions, benefit program additions or changes · Interfaces effectively with Senior Leadership serving on Benefits Committee · Interfaces effectively with employees regarding their benefit inquiries, providing timely resolution · Identify process improvement to eliminate manual work, and work with internal/external teams to implement process improvement projects · Recommends vendor/plan changes to support organization strategy

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Strong US/Canada benefits background in health, welfare and retirement benefits demonstrating a thorough working knowledge of program requirements for compliant administration and market-effectiveness
  • The ability to be flexible, self-directed, motivated and able to interact with employees at all levels
  • Proven ability to research and analyze data and information to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues and make sound decisions by using judgement that is consistent with standard, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or government law.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead and balance a high-volume work and prioritize urgent issues to meet deadlines in an ever changing fast-paced environment
  • The proven ability to demonstrate leadership skills, professionalism and team attitude
  • A strong work ethic with an appreciation for ownership, independence, and accountability in your role
  • Demonstrated process improvement skills
  • Proficient MS office, Advance Excel including formulas, (VLOOKUP, If/And statements)
  • Knowledge of benefits systems, integrations, and reporting preferred


  • · 7+ years of experience in benefits plan administration for US and Canada employees; Lead/Supervisory experience preferred · Experience administering benefit programs under collective bargaining agreements

Education Requirements

  • · Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business related field required · Master's Degree or CEBS certification is preferred.
