Powering Predictability: EthosEnergy’s LTSA Success Global Pigment Manufacturer

Project overview

In 2025, EthosEnergy strengthened its relationship with a global pigment manufacturer, by securing a six-year Multi Million Pound (£) Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA). This marked the first LTSA between EthosEnergy and this client, evolving from a previous 3-year transactional relationship to a fully embedded partnership.

Under the ongoing agreement, EthosEnergy provided maintenance and support of two Siemens SGT-200 light industrial gas turbines at the UK site. The turbines form part of a combined heat and power plant (CHP).

The LTSA includes scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, spare parts, contract management and 24/7 call-out support tailored to provide consistent turbine performance and reliability.

Initial challenges

The customer’s site presented several operational and commercial challenges that EthosEnergy was tasked to support. The plant’s gas turbines had previously been upgraded to dry low-emission (DLE), with a new control system installed by the previous maintenance contractor, however the aging turbine packages required a technical vendor to help to significantly improve reliability and availability.

During a scheduled B Inspection on GT2, the EthosEnergy team determined that a major overhaul would be required. As the work progressed, additional stator work was identified, adding significant additional cost to the budget after the LTSA had already been signed. Recognising the potential impact, EthosEnergy is working closely with the client to explore solutions and manage costs effectively, ensuring this, and future challenges will be handled with sensitivity and without compromising trust.

Additionally, the Turbine Control System poses cybersecurity barriers that restrict EthosEnergy’s access to real-time performance data, posing challenges for proactive diagnostics. However, with the commitment from the client and it’s site operator, a solution is being assessed and is expected to be completed within 2025. Once implemented, EthosEnergy’s Engineering team will gain the visibility needed to diagnose and resolve potential issues before they arise.

The site operator, continues to collaborate closely with EthosEnergy. Their valuable operational knowledge, combined with EthosEnergy’s extensive turbine expertise continue to drive the success of the LTSA.

The EthosEnergy solution

EthosEnergy is transforming the customer experience by delivering a LTSA that is tailored to their specific needs, enabling a shift from reactive maintenance to proactive asset management.

A key element of the solution is the provision of a lease engine, which maintains uninterrupted power supply during the overhaul period. This allows the plant to avoid costly grid power purchases estimated at £7K–£10K per day, while maintaining operational continuity.

By integrating overhaul costs into the LTSA, EthosEnergy enables its customer to spread payments over six years and gain financial predictability.

EthosEnergy’s proximity to the site, with workshops in Lincoln and Aberdeen, UK, ensures rapid response times and eliminates the need for overseas contractors, reducing both cost and downtime.

The partnership is further strengthened through bi-weekly operational meetings, six-monthly face to face contract review meetings, and a comprehensive action tracker that provides transparency and accountability.

EthosEnergy’s commitment to open communication, even during difficult situations, reinforces customer trust and positions the company as a reliable, long-term partner. Working closely together, the teams continue to address technical challenges and drive improvements in reliability and availability.
