Conversion to dry gas seals and the use of Artificial Intelligence in compressor maintenance
EthosEnergy will present at an Autumn Study Day hosted by De Pompenkring Vzw, an independent association of and for machine users, on 27th November at the Van der Valk Hotel Beveren in Belgium.
The event will focus on converting to dry gas seals and using Artificial Intelligence in compressor maintenance.
During one of the event sessions, our Engineering Manager – Compressors, Bob Ettema, will present “Upgrading Centrifugal Compressors for improved performance and zero-emission solutions”. Bob will be joined at the event by our Sales Account Manager, Bastiaan Schulte.
The first part of the presentation will focus on Centrifugal Compressor Retrofit with particular attention to the impact of mixing hydrogen on Centrifugal Compressor Performance and considerations for Carbon Capture. Our Field Performance Assessment will be explained as the methodology to rerate and upgrade to optimize the re-design.
The second part will explain the benefit of creating a digital twin of a compressor seal gas system and performing a seal gas system verification. Case studies will demonstrate system safeguarding & reliability improvements, upgrading the DGS System on a depleting field to zero-emissions and retrofitting existing seal gas systems with a seal gas booster to prevent compressor blowdown during pressurized standstill.
AESSEAL, I-Care and Yazzoom will also give presentations.
The day will end by debriefing and exchanging information and end-user experiences.
Bob Ettema
Engineering Manager – Compressors
Bob joined the EthosEnergy Engineering team in 2019 as a System & Controls Engineering Specialist, responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, and commissioning equipment to control and monitor the reliable and safe operation of industrial compressors and steam turbines.
Since July 2024, Bob has led the EthosEnergy Engineering department at the Compressor Center of Excellence in Enschede. Before starting at EthosEnergy 5 years ago, Bob held numerous engineering roles within Siemens for 16 years.
One of Bob’s significant achievements was the development of the Seal Gas Simulator, an advanced tool that created a digital twin of the compressor seal gas system for analysis and troubleshooting.
