EthosEnergy secures deal to provide block transformer for Enea Połaniec

Enea Połaniec has signed a contract with EthosEnergy for the supply of a new block transformer, to continue its commitment to safety and energy efficiency.

Enea Elektrownia Połaniec, a leading electricity producer in south-eastern Poland, is continuing its investments in modern technological solutions. The company has signed a contract with EthosEnergy for the delivery of a 290 MVA block transformer with a voltage of 400 kV, intended for unit No. 9 (the so-called "Green Block"), which utilizes biomass fuel.

"Safety of energy production is a priority for us. The new block transformer we will introduce to our plant will not only increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations but also enable us to work at a high level. This is a step towards ensuring the stability of our production, which is crucial for delivering energy reliably and safely," emphasized Jacek Janas, acting president of Enea Połaniec.

"EthosEnergy, with over 40 years of experience in the energy sector, has become a trusted partner. The contract includes not only the delivery of the transformer but also the necessary calculations, design, and compliance with all norms and requirements related to the transformer's operation," added Jerzy Król, Director of the Repairs Division at Enea Połaniec.

Block transformers are essential components connecting power plants to the power grid. They play a crucial role in transmitting electricity from power plants to consumers continuously and reliably. The new transformer for the Połaniec power plant will ensure the smooth operation of unit No. 9. Additionally, thanks to its configuration allowing for power extraction from power units 5, 6, and 7, it will also improve regulation and extend the operational life of these units. The new device will improve energy transmission efficiency, which will save 1,500 MWh of electricity per year.

Under the agreement, EthosEnergy will deliver the new transformer in 2026. The equipment will meet all operational requirements of the transmission network to ensure optimal operation and performance of the power plant.
