Mastering finance and the mountains - Katarzyna Rudnicka’s journey proves success isn’t confined to the office
At EthosEnergy’s Lubliniec facility in Poland, where the focus is on providing top-notch solutions for generators, transformers, and steam turbines, one employee stands out not just for her professional acumen but also for her adventurous spirit. Meet Katarzyna Rudnicka, the Proxy and Head Accountant, whose journey is as inspiring as it is unique.
A Passion for Mountains
Katarzyna’s love for mountains has been a lifelong affair. From a young age, she seized every opportunity to be among the peaks, feeling a profound sense of freedom and inner peace. For her, mountains are not just a hobby but a way to overcome personal weaknesses and strive for continuous self-improvement. This passion has driven her to achieve remarkable feats, including climbing The Great Crown of the Tatras (WKT) – a list of the fourteen highest peaks in the Tatra mountains and trekking the challenging GR20 trail in Corsica, known as the toughest hiking trail in Europe.
The Everest Base Camp Adventure
Recently, Katarzyna added another milestone to her list of achievements by reaching the Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5,364 meters in the Himalayas. The 14-day trek to the base camp is a grueling journey, starting from Lukla’s airport. This adventure is a testament to her perseverance and determination, qualities that she brings to her role at EthosEnergy.
The journey to Everest Base Camp is not just physically demanding but also requires careful acclimatization to the high altitude. As trekkers ascend, the air becomes thinner, making it difficult to breathe and increasing the risk of altitude sickness. The cold temperatures and low pressure add to the challenging conditions, testing the limits of endurance and resilience.
Despite these hardships, Katarzyna’s unwavering spirit and meticulous preparation enabled her to overcome these obstacles. Her experience in the mountains, combined with her mental fortitude, played a crucial role in successfully completing this remarkable feat.
Celebrating 30 Years at EthosEnergy
Katarzyna has been a part of EthosEnergy’s finance department since 1995, marking her 30th anniversary with the company this year. Her dedication and expertise have been instrumental in the company’s success, and she continues to lead with the same passion and commitment that she shows in her mountain-climbing endeavors.
Beyond her professional and personal achievements, Katarzyna is also one of the leaders of the Female Forces group at EthosEnergy. This international group of women meets regularly to share experiences, support each other, and inspire one another. These gatherings help them understand different cultures and challenges, fostering a sense of unity and empowerment.
Advice for Aspiring Adventurers
For those dreaming of similar adventures, Katarzyna has some practical advice: “Either you love the mountains, or you don’t. Faith and strength come naturally.” Her words reflect the simplicity and profound wisdom that comes from years of experience and passion.
Katarzyna’s story is a powerful reminder that with determination, perseverance, and a love for what you do, you can achieve great heights—both in your career and in your personal life.
